UV tech is basically all about hitting the right spot with the right amount of shortwave radiation. Whether you’re trying to harden a coating or wipe out bacteria, it comes down to one thing: energy density. We build our lamps to make sure that energy hits your material hard enough to get the job done, but not so hard that it melts everything in sight.
Power and Light: The Nitty-Gritty
The secret sauce here is the gas mix inside the quartz tube and how stable that arc stays. We make sure the light is consistent from one end of the bulb to the other. If you’re running a high-speed line, you can’t afford to wait. You need high wattage-per-centimeter so the “cure-through” happens in a blink. But here’s the catch: that kind of power getshot. Really hot. If your cooling fans or water jackets aren’t up to the task, your bulbs are going to burn out way faster than they should.
Why the Glass Matters
You can’t just use any old glass—it would block the UV-C wavelengths entirely. That’s why we use high-purity fused quartz. It’s tough, too. These tubes go through crazy temperature swings, and they need to handle that without cracking. Depending on your setup, we can add coatings to the glass. Some of them push the light forward to give you a boost in efficiency, while others act as a shield against the chemical splashes that happen on a busy shop floor.
Getting It Up and Running
We designed our units to be drop-in replacements. No need to rebuild your whole line; they just fit. The connectors are standard, so wiring them up is a breeze. Just one thing to keep an eye on: your electricals. Whether you’re using an electronic ballast or an old-school transformer, the impedance has to match the lamp. If they don’t line up, you’ll get flickering, or worse, you’ll kill the life of the lamp. We’re confident in our builds.
