
Dealing with Electrical Noise in Your UV Curing Setup
Mercury UV tubes are the backbone of industrial drying. They get the job done. But things get messy when you’ve got several massive printing presses humming away on the same power grid. When you have all those high-wattage lamps firing at once, you run into electromagnetic interference (EMI). It’s basically electrical noise. And that noise is a pain. It leads to flickering, curing depths that just aren’t consistent, or tubes that burn out way too fast.
Keeping the Arc Steady

And a word of caution: don’t push these lamps to their absolute thermal limit just to squeeze out a bit more speed. Running at max wattage puts a huge heat load on your reflectors. If your cooling fans can’t keep up, the quartz gets stressed. That’ll kill your tube’s life faster than any electrical glitch ever could.
