What you get under the hood
It’s a low-pressure mercury vapor lamp in ozone-free quartz, tuned to 254nm for germicidal action. The quartz envelope is doped to block the 185nm line, so no ozone forms. Output is 15mW/cm² at 10mm, and it knocks out 99.9% of common microbes in under 30 seconds. The lamp runs off 5V USB, draws 2.5A, and sits in an industrial aluminum body with a fixed 30° beam angle for repeatable coverage. Rated life is 8,000 hours, with less than 10% output decay by 6,000 hours.
Here’s why it makes sense in printing and finishing areas. Cross-contamination on shared controls, pallets, and squeegees can carry inks and pathogens from job to job. With a footprint this small, you can mount the lamp right on workstations, tool carts, and inspection stations.
Ozone-free operation keeps operator breathing easy—no sharp smell, no need to over-ventilate. You get quicker changeovers, fewer rejects, and you cut consumable costs compared to constant wiping. The USB power makes it simple to integrate without dedicated fixtures.
But—UVC is no joke. It’s hazardous to skin and eyes. Fit interlocks and clear safety signage, and never run it without proper shielding.
Keep the supply stable at 5V. If the voltage dips, output drops and warm-up drags. For consistent dosing, stay in the 10–20mm working distance and keep the quartz surface clean; oils and dust scatter output and rob you of dose. Check reflector alignment so irradiance stays uniform across the target.
