The tube is built from high-purity quartz. That matters because it handles the thermal shock of repeated on/off cycles and transmits the UV wavelength cleanly. A specialized coating on the quartz focuses the UV spectrum right where you need it—in the germicidal range—while keeping the tube strong. Then there’s the connector: an R7s base.
